Welcome to

The 2020-2021 School Year

These Classes Teach Students...

Team Work

Teamwork is apart of life, if we cannot get along with those we work with, life will be miserable. All classes focus on teamwork in creating, acting, film-making, and much more. The class is a safe place to be creative and not be judged but to be able to lean on your team to work through problem solving activities.

"It is the ability to persist in something you feel passionate about and persevere when you face obstacles. This kind of passion is not about intense emotions or infatuation. It’s about having direction and commitment. When you have this kind of passion, you can stay committed to a task that may be difficult or boring. Grit is also about perseverance. To persevere means to stick with it; to continue working hard even after experiencing difficulty or failure".

-Caren Baruch-Feldman, PhD

Industry Standards

The most important reason that your student is in school, is because they are being prepared for the real world. In CTE classes throughout our school we are preparing our students with Industry Standard education. Whether that be language on a film set or techniques in acting. If you student was to pass the program classes they will be able to go straight into the industry knowing how to function and succeed.

We live in an ever changing world. As teachers "We are currently preparing students for jobs that don't yet exist...using technologies that haven't yet been invented... in order to solve problems we don't even know are problems yet". To have flexibility as a life long learner will put your students at the forefront of their career driven industry. To be successful they must learn how to constantly learn and rethink issues, and problem solve. Which is the characteristic of being flexible.

-Quote from Richard Riley, Secretary of Education under President Clinton

2020-2021 Course Information

Theater will be an encompassing class which will hold Intro to Theater, Styles of Theater, Performance & Presentation, as well as Directing. Students will be able to work on performances in class, as well as build their acting skills along side seasoned acting students. Online courses will contain theory, history, and all Academic work along with online auditioning styles, monologues, and other necessities for the industry that we couldn't accomplish without this new form of school.

Intro to Film

Intro to Film is the entry level course for the new Film Program. Students will learn the basics of Film such as history, critiquing, terminology of a film set, basic techniques of filming, writing and analysis scripts. Due to our new form of school all academic work will be completed online as well as a few film projects. Once we are in our Hybrid model all in class days will be workshop days focusing on team building, industry standards, and professionalism.

Film Production

Film Production will be a continuation of Intro to Film, this course will hold true to its name and dive into the Production of filming. Due to our new form of school, this will not slow us down. All students will still be filming, but in different ways. The industry has completely changed since March of 2020 and as a program we are also changing. Learning the basics of everything and building on that knowledge will prepare students for anything that is thrown their way on a film set.

6-8 Intro to Film and Theater

Middle School students will have the ability to test the waters in Theater and Film through this newly expanded course. A semester long course will be divided into quarters where the students will focus on learning the basics of acting and understanding the importance of Theater, then go into learning the basics of Film with the hope of filming in class. Due to our new form of school, students will utilize this website and google classroom to learn the basics, and then dive into workshops once we enter school.
