Our Theater and Film programs are currently at Bernalillo High School and Bernalillo Middle School. The goal of the school district is to bring industry standard education for both Theater and Film into the classroom, so students can learn what it means to work in the industry.

We are currently working with professionals from Albuquerque's new and thriving film industry. Our hopes for our students is to have them their required film set union hours. Being in the union means that the students can now apply and have a high probability to work on big budget productions right after graduation, or go onto Higher Education to further their knowledge.

Our Theater program has had many students go into Theater undergrad programs last year alone we had three students accomplish this, and also had a student obtain an acting agent right after graduation.

Bernalillo Public Schools continues to strive for excellence in all that we do, and are looking forward to the 2020-2021 school year that will bring more accomplishments and entertainment to the town of Bernalillo, New Mexico.

Meet Mrs. Bergeron

Hello everyone! My name is Heather Bergeron, I am Bernalillo Public Schools Theater and Film Director, I started teaching at Bernalillo Public Schools in January of 2019. I am between both the High School and the Middle School teaching everyday, and my hope is to build both programs to the point that we have a separate middle school and high school programs.

Prior to my teaching in Bernalillo, I grew up in Smyrna, Delaware where I found a love of theater. I then went to Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia where I received my Bachelors Degree in Cinema Television. During my time in Virginia I worked on two feature films, a multitude of short films, and worked on a broadcast television show for a season, as well as directed my senior thesis at the end of my time there. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and will be finished with it in the fall. It has helped me transition into teaching, and to become an efficient and effective teacher.

I married my high school sweetheart Dustin Bergeron, who is in the Air Force and we now have a giant Great Pyrenees. We moved to New Mexico when Dustin was stationed at Kirtland AFB, and have loved being here ever since. We hope to stay here for a very long time.

Over the course of being here at Bernalillo I have gotten to know so many amazing students. This school year will be a challenge for all, but we are prepared to roll with the punches.  I look forward to all the wonderful productions we have in store for the upcoming years, and all of the amazing creative minds I will get to meet.
